For those of us that really care about college basketball, like REALLY care, today is a big day because we are going to have our first official ticket punched to the 2023 NCAA Tournament tonight. At 7:00 PM CST tonight in the Ohio Valley (2) Tennessee Tech will take on 2 point favorite (5) Southeast Missouri State for the championship, giving us our first official NCAA tournament team. 30 out of 32 people in our pool have been knocked out of the conference, with only BI and Novak remaining whom both have Southeast Missouri State. If Southeast Missouri State wins these guys will not only have a nice early lead, but also in contention for lowest winning seed. What a start this pool could be off too!
As if having a conference championship game today is not exciting enough, we'll have 3 conferences playing semifinals games today. The Big South, Missouri Valley, and Northeast Conference will all be putting teams in the championship game by tonight. We're now at the point where I can't detail out every single thing that is going on in every single conference, so I'll generally move to a highlight for each conference.
Starting at 11:00 AM CST, the Big South pool favorite (1) UNC Asheville is still alive, however with the 2 seed gone this conference is wide open to possibly award someone bonus points, which would be much needed to keep up with BI and Novak. Moving to the Missouri Valley conference, only 3 people have been eliminated meaning most of us are still alive in Arch Madness. Similarly, in the Northeast Conference only 2 people have been eliminated.
In other conference action we have 5 conferences playing quarterfinals, 1 conference in the 2nd round and we have 1 new conference tipping off today. Welcome to conference tournament season Big Sky! Before we get too excited about Tim Husted's favorite conference, the Big Sky, it is only seeds 7-10 playing, no impact to our pool. I will close this entry by leaving you with the Big Sky bracket and I look forward to providing 1 or 2 blog entries throughout the day today. Enjoy the games! 🏀
